About Me

My photo
I am a commercial Interior Designer. I've been working in this field for over 30 years , but I've been an artist all my life. A pencil or paint brush in my hand is one of my earliest memories. I love making things with my hands. From inspiration to creation is the journey. Welcome to my new life.

Sunday ****

It's hard to believe it's the middle of August. Time from now on seems to snowball through to the Holidays.

This past week at the day job was very busy. That means by the time I come home I'm wiped. That being said I'm still on target to finish 10 projects by the end of the month. I do need to figure out this balance thing I keep hearing about. I have to still care about the day job but not be so stressed that I can't accomplish my art when I get home. This leaves only weekends to accomplish things and that's just not enough time.

My goal this week - stay on track, work a little each night and take a break over the weekend.

Trying a new paper mache material , should speed up my process. I'll note if I like it. CelluClay by Activa was recommended by one of my fellow flyers. thanks! Mindy.

Well - it's back to work.

Tomorrow --- Happy Monday.

Sunday ****

I have Eggplant!!! How exciting, my first time. Next summer I hope to have raised beds , but this year I am planting in window boxes and if I get a harvest, small as it may be , at least I can say I'm gardening.

On the creative front...
Today has been the most productive of the weekend. I'm really very excited I finally figured out a process that will eliminate the use of styrofoam cones in my holiday pieces. Besides being very costly to use they are not at all Eco friendly. I'll be posting pictures as I go along. So far I'm pleased with the results. Hope your having a great Sunday.

Today should have been a work day ******

I really had every intention of getting up today and going straight to my workroom. But after the HOT summer we have all had so far; a cool beautiful breeze was calling me. I love how some of the flowers look this year and included a few pictures.I'm still working on perfecting my pictures and have been playing around with the photo editor in Picasa. Really fun. I'm not very good , but practice makes perfect.

I promise to get started with projects tomorrow. Sometimes making art is more a mind set than anything else. I'm working on Christmas at the moment and have to be in the right mood. The intense heat of the last few weeks was not helping that happen.

Tomorrow will be another beautiful day so will it be snowmen or christmas tree's, not sure. Tune in tomorrow and find out!

Week 1- Finding my routine

Today I need to get into a routine, blogging, get dressed, go to the day job. Come home and do some art. It's a beautiful day , if a bit warm , okay HOT. I need to start somewhere. Will post more later.

Sunday ***

Today - I've committed myself to finish 20 Art Dolls by the end of August. Ten will be Halloween themes. Ten will be Christmas. I have the ideas in my head how they will look, but once I start they take on a life of their own. So they may not turn out exactly as planned.

This is the height of Garage Sale season, perfect place for me to find vintage Christmas decoration's I can incorporate into my designs. I'm thinking of developing a line of small decoration's that can be hung on trees or placed on tables. I need to look for scrap & batting & tinsel.

Thinking of Christmas keeps me cool during these really hot spells we are having.

Getting a lot of support from my fellow Flyer's from our e-course. Soon I hope to link this with my Facebook page and in August will set up my Facebook business page. The Website and Etsy pages will follow soon.

Everyday I make a little more progress. That's what fuels me to keep going forward. When I get over-whelmed I just visit one of my flyer friends site & that gives me hope.

Happy Sunday !

Re-Start

Wow - Blogging is harder than I thought. So let me start over.

I've finished the e-course offered by Kelly Rae Roberts, and now I have my work cut out for me. Still a bit uncertain how to begin. Guess I just need to jump in with both feet and see where I land. Thanks to Kelly for giving me a place to start.

I've met - at least on-line a great group of woman all on the same path just at different junctions. As I move forward I hope to build my confidence and re-write my story.

Here it is – Day after my Birthday and the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Starting a blog is only the beginning.

I’m ready to start taking my art more seriously, and prepare for the day I can escape the world of the office cubicle.

First you have to understand I design cubicles for a living. That’s right!! I plan those little boxes you all inhabit 40 + hours a week. Don’t get me wrong; I love the world of Commercial Design and Furniture. But after 34+ years it’s not enough. My inner voice is calling; I can’t ignore it any longer.

Day 1 – A Plan!!
